Oh wow. Have there been acts of solidarity in SF? Hardly anyone knows about it here.

I think the small thing I do is tell my international students when I find out about something like this, and we discuss how to make change. They have interesting perspectives.

I try to talk to people locally about issues, and how words and actions have an effect, positive and negative. That probably sounds small, but here I am south of the south in Miami, and certain ideas are taking 30 years to get here.

I'd like to hear what other FWers do as well.

Hey everyone- I've been reading and listening on the radio about what's going on in Jena and feeling pretty emotional about it. I was feeling pretty bummed, especially about the lack of news (mainstream that is) about what's going on there and then got to thinking about all the people in various communities who are doing good things for others. I especially thought about FW'ers and how I've met or heard about other people creating change. Sooooo. I was wondering, in the spirit of recognizing positive work if we all wanted to share out what we do that makes a difference, even a tiny one. I know it seems kind of corny,!It doesn't have to be something huge and impressive. I'll start....

ok., uh...
I teach high school and recently was able to learn about and then pass on important information about how to react when you are being harrassed by police.
I try to let people in sometimes in traffic
I just sent a rockin' package to a friend in another country, complete with Lucky Charms

Anyone else?
