Hi I posted some stuff about Katheka Kai around the year 2000, and it was 1990 ,time is relative ?!?. I guess the last ten years were not as interesting as the first 20, I need to start taking some Gingko. So if anyone was there 1990-1991 at Kai or Kilifi or Lamu and has news to share......I was trying to remember the name of that leaf and bark people (me) chewed that was like coffee, does anyone remember the name of it?

Fri, November 17, 2006 - 8:43 AMNice to see you two, welcome. I know Angelica Broman is from 1990 or so time if either one of you know her, I can put you in contact. She and I lived in Bolivia together while I was in FW and she worked down there and we became good friends. Anyway thought I would throw that out there. -

Fri, November 17, 2006 - 4:27 PMnope sorry I missed meeting her.... but thanks just the same..... Some long term FW's I wonder about:
Jesse ( benjamin) Tandeka, Bevin and a buddy who made Tiriki drums ( of which I have) who I RAN into on an island in Uganda (when we were under the duress of the Vice President.).... Ive lost his name but not his face....... he ended up in Thailand under the tutelage of buddhist minks thereafter....... erk erk.
So is Katheka Kai a working coffee co-op? Im not sure at this point....... I saw something on line about resale of property.?.... Id love to know via the net the ongoing relationship of the farmers on the ranch.
Huggles....... Greta -

Re: TIME WARP
Tue, November 28, 2006 - 6:47 AMIn Columbus we had the largest kaat bust in the US and our police were SO PROUD that they had taken these "drugs" off the streets of columbus. Never mind that we have one of the largest Somali populations outside of Somali living here, and that is why the kaat is here, not because they are pushing it on young Ohioans and ruining their lives. Anyone who didn't know better and read the papers would be very confused about what it is, why its here, and the "dangers" of it.
