I just came back from CR and while down there I visited the center and met a lot of the 1st year students. Pretty interesting stuff, and also much old stuff, still happening in Friends World. Much has changed, some for the better in my opinion...but still much has been eroded away. The students only go to Nicaragua during the first semester. The second semester, before student go on independent projects, went to Ecuador to visit the amazon and complete a LA realities trip. Most of the students were on independent projects when I was there, but I was able to visit with most of the faculty. Antonio is a Faculty member now, and during my trip I went to half of a 6 day workshop on Biointensive Agriculture with Antonio and some of his advisee's. It was a Latin American workshop that was hosted by John Jeavons, Executive Director of Ecology Action, out of Willits, Ca.

It was a workshop that was attended by farmers and community organizers from 11 countries in Latin american, about 90 people total. The workshop contained theory of Bio Intensive agruculture in the evenings, and the next day was followed by field projects to implement the techniques that were spoken about during the lectures. Amazing work and a great opportunity!

Not too much has changed in CR, besides a continuous flow of tourists and tons more fast food places. I spent a weekend at Playa Hermosa...pretty chill time! I visited Oceano's for all of you F07 students...still pretty much the same place!
The LAC sends hola's to the FW tribe!
Peace!
